Every summer as a child, I would visit my grandparents in
Waco for about two weeks. On the wall of their small den, they
had a real antique: one those phones where the earpiece was
separate from the microphone into which you speak. It looked
very much like this:

But I don't think it'd been used for the better part of 40
years. Of course, the phone they actually used was rotary.
