Re: Retranslation

You have a point here, David: we're not numerous enough to fight with each
other. there is a great bunch of auxlangers on this list. my own artlang is an
"auxlang ad absurdo". still i wouldn't like to be mistaken for an auxlanger:
trying to proselyte one's private lang, claiming it's a better device to
communicate or whatever is something rather troubling IMHO to put it mildly. my
favourite natlang is a rather artificial one that proves that auxlangers can
succeed with the help of a dictatorial government, guns and blackboards.
however, i enjoy reading quarrels between auxlangers. their fights about
mandatory cases, genders, derivations and "international" vocabulary are
hilarious. i think "our" Czhang could help them. let me see...

Interauxlang Lesson One -- Food

Text:
Mi mawsklik gotu bilding mikdanol. Yu-mi mikdanol bigmakset gudgud. Hapitaym!
Burp.

New Vocabulary:
food : bigmak
restaurant : bilding mikdanol
to drink: kok (dialectal variant: pepsi)
pick, choose : klik, mawsklik
cheers! : burp

Exercise:
Yu bakmel oke ziskweshon:
Yu no kompyut gotumikdanol lanstaym?
Wat yu wana kok?

Erm, am i off-topic again? And does anybody here know about an auxlang thread
discussing verbal voices?
On the other hand, i love the old, quaint "philosophical" and "encyclopedic"
invented languages--how would you call them: philangs? sophlangs?--i made Tunu
after reading about Suma, Ro and the like. Someone has to keep the tradition
alive--as Clint put it in a recent post conlanging is all about "stubborness",
isn't it?

Why, yes, every small group has to turn in upon itself.
