Not so difficult with a sci-fi background, even if the story is a
fantasy. Aliens (or really abnormally advanced humans) transported them
to Iupiter, perhaps in stasis.

That's about what happened for Lashkos, which is Latin influenced by
modern Hindi. The Romans were taken to a strange world in suspended
animation on a slow, unmanned ship while the Indians, or perhaps
Pakistanis, were taken (around AD 1500) in a fast ship. When they
arrived, the Romans took over, forcing everyone to learn Latin while many
people spoke Hindi at home. They inevitably influenced each other.

This conculture isn't a sci-fi culture but rather a fantasy culture with
a sci-fi background.
