Hello everybody!
I have a question for all of you who have created language families, that is,
languages related to each other derived from a common ancestral language.
I know that there are closely related languages in which the same word means
entirely different things, and where the difference is really comical. For
example:
Word: Norwegian: Swedish:
Pula To have sex To do something
Rolig Calm Funny
Word: Finnish: Estonian:
Hallitus Government Mildew
There are more of these in Finnish and Estonian, but these are those that I can recall now.
Do any of you have this kind of humorous word similarities in your conlangs?
/Micke
