Just trying to see what comes naturally, I find a tendency to assimilate
the POA for stops before fricatives when they're not colocated, e.g.
/tf/ -> /pf/.

I'd expect one of those to also assimilate voice and then probably
reverse (is reversal considered a form of lenition?), so I'd wind up
with /Ng/ or /mb/. Hmm.
Of course, since my original post I've mucked around with the roots and
now "in the darkness" is simply ñuplāgæš /NU'plag.&S/. But I still
expect to have the cluster problems elsewhere. :)
