One of the most important things that America and Australia share is
the legacy of being immigrant countries.
My uncle has done considerable research into our family tree. There
isn't a lot that isn't Wales/Ireland/Scotland/England, however.
The Morgan family came to Australia from the Welsh/English border
(Shropshire) via London, during the Ballarat goldrush. My mother's
ancestors were among the people kicked off the north of Scotland to
make way for the sheep. There is a theory - to explain my own and my
grandfather's relatively dark skin - that I have some unofficial
Spanish ancestry, probably via someone who was shipwrecked and
stranded in northern Scotland on account of the Armada.
Adrian.
