This depends very much on your goal. If you want to look Slavic, go with |c|. |z| will look more German, or to me "rougher". ([tsen] is a fine-sounding word, but the spelling "zen" does it injustice. "Cen" is beautiful, though.) As for [S], I prefer |x|. Unless I'm writing for a Muggle[1], English-speaking audience, I avoid things like "sh" and "ts" for those sequences. [1] By "Muggle" I mean "not linguistically educated or inclined", of course. Jesse S.
