"Decadents" may perhaps be the correct word. Assuming that the OE/ON
state of things is older, that is. We also find a lot more empty
unstressed syllables than in ON or OS: nothing like the Sievers line
types (A, B, etc.) is visible. Overall the Hildebrandslied gives the
impression of a convention that is on the verge of falling apart.
