Me too. In fact I sometimes refuse to tell people here in Taiwan what my English name is, because then they want to use it, but can't pronounce it. I just tell them my Chinese name and leave it at that. Then there is what one particular woman at church caused. She insisted on knowing my English name and because of her now half the people at church use the Chinese transliteration of my English name rather than my correct Chinese name. I just refuse to respond when they do, or tell them, gently, for the 900th time, I'm not Yadan. (For heaven's sake. It's meaningless when written *and* is a near homophone for duck egg which is slang for "zero"!) Adam
