Hello,
I'm not sure who's interested but, I thought I'd share my newly-done
romanization for 'Yemls (Neimulis). The pronunciation is at the top
(it should mostly allow reasonable guesses). I show the romanization
for each character of the syllabary at the bottom.
Romanization to Phonetic:
a [A:] after ***c, j, x, q,*** y, or w; else [V]
aa [A:]
ae [AE]
b [p] after s, x, h, or f; else [b]
c [t_S_h]
d [d]
e [E:] after y or w; else [E]
ee [&:]
ei [Ei]
eo [&O]
eu [Eu]
f [v] before d, j, or g; else [f]
g [N] final or before consonant; [g_j] before i or e; else [g]
gy [g_j] (occurs before u, a, or e)
h [C] before i or e; else [x]
hy [C] (occurs before u, a, or e)
i [i:] after w; else [I]
ii [i:]
j [d_Z]
k [k_j_h] before i or e; else [k_h]
ky [k_j_h] (occurs before u, a, or e)
l [l]
m [m]
n [n_j] before i or e; else [n]
ny [n_j] (occurs before u, a, or e)
o [O]
oi [Oi]
ou [Ou]
p ---[ not used ]---
q [Z]
r [l`] (occurs final or before consonant)
s [s]
t [t_h]
u [u:] after ***c, j, x, q, or*** y; else [U]
uu [u:]
v ---[ not used ]---
w [w] (occurs before a, e, or i)
x [S]
y [] after c, j, x, or q; else [j] (occurs before u, a, or e)
ye [E:] after c, j, x, or q; else [jE:]
z [z]
*** I'm not sure about this; I might use double letters (aa and uu)
for the long vowels after c, j, x, and q.
