It is best to segment the pieces that can be separated,
and so re-use the work of others. KDE + MySQL + etc mean
non-reinvention of lots of wheels, and won't be invalidated
by every new Micro$oft release. Anyone can boot Linux now,
it is freely downloadable and well worth the effort to learn.
Win9x is going away soon, besides which it sucks now, IMO.
I have "argued" previously with Mr. B. about some of these
components, but he had good reasons for each. My choices
given *infinite* time and energy would be PostgreSQL, Perl, and
just plain X (or TK?), but certainly it must be free-unixoid.
BTW, if I use this toy, I will contribute in some way.
