Are you saying that you say /rEt/ for the past tense of "read"? If so, I don't
think I've ever heard that usage.
No...I don't say /rEt/. I meant the vowel change is there, as is a "supposed" dental
suffix (this time /d/ as in /smEld/, but perhaps this one fits better in the
lingering strong verb category.
