You know, everybody's been talking about /rEt/, but in the original he
only mentioned "verbs whose present tense vowel are /i/, and whose past tense
vowel are /E/". He didn't mention anything about the final consonant. It
just so happened that all of the previous ones (accept one which he starred)
could end with /t/.
