And the dative case no longer exists, its function being (mostly?) taken
by the genitive. Is there still a vocative case in modern Greek? Perhaps
that went away, too.
I'm pretty sure the vocative stayed, though only in a few isolated forms,
most of the time its just like the nominative, which of course is just like
the
accusative in most nouns. So really there is mostly just a distinction
between genetive and nominative in the singular, and a few more distinctions
in the plural.
