Certianly it makes things a little easier. I have
Virtualbox, though, because I find VMware awfully sloooowwww
even now that I have got myself 1 GB of RAM and have given
VMWare access to 75% of it. Virtualbox runs Ubuntu fluently
on my box, though, except for:

For such stuff Virtualization should be still quite slow.
The same goes for anything related to music. But then, my
hardware isn't up to date anymore.
