All your Web graphics should be at 72 dpi resolution, and in Photoshop you
can minimize their color palettes for minimal file size. This alone will
shrink your images nicely. My rule for file size is that the total size of
a page and its inline elements taken together should never exceed 30KB (as
an extreme upper limit), except in rare cases.
