I'd argue that Morse Code has phonemic silence, and that it's a writing system rather than a language. It's possible to avoid both these objections if you try hard enough. One example is Machine Code, though it's not a human language, it's plausibly linguistic -- certainly it's close enough to Chinese, for instance, or Khmer. Paul
