I bought the boxed set (9 seasons) of the Britcom "As Time Goes By," an
excellent series, and have watched it many times.  I've noticed several
instances of the following as the imperative:

Make up your mind, do!

I also notice that the British use this same auxiliary in making a
command, where we in America would say "please."

"Do sit down" vs. "Please sit down."
