I didn't mean tecnically --- I meant why we even need widget sets that
allow one program to tell another that its third pushbutton widget
from the right should have a picture of George W.'s nose as its
background.
Athena widgets were naff, but feature-wise Motif suited me just fine.
(When it worked). Give me keyboard traversal that works, and I'm
happy.
OK, there's a point. Do the newer widget sets default to a sensible
traversal sequence that actually gets to all the widgets, instead of
relying on the programmer to get it wrong, and do they have sensible
default bindings like letting PageUp and PageDown through from a
scrollPane to its scrollBars?
I'm not a GUI programmer anyway. I think I hear the Perl 5.7 numeric
conversion code calling for a cleanup, though.
