of birth minus the nineteen (minus definite article nineteen), that's
seventy-seven centimetres. But if I said it was my year of birth minus
nineteen (without the definite article), that would be one thousand nine
hundred and fifty-eight centimetres.

The humble "the" is more powerful than we give it credit for!
