When I saw "pre-Greek" coming in the title, I was a little wary as I
have been given two or three bizarre "pre-Greek" ideas from people who
have happened upon my website. But seeing the mail came from Roger, I
was more hopeful.

Indeed, I shall read the article with great interest. Beekes is a
scholar I respect. I was saddened to read that his article was dedicated
to the _memory_ of Edzard Johan Furnée. I have Furnée's "Die wichtigsten
konsonantischen Erscheinungen des Vorgriechischen" right by me on my
bookshelves as I write. It was an important inspiration for my own
researches into pre-Greek in the 1970s & 80s - and has been used often
by me. Requiescat in pace.
