According to the XX.VV timeline at
http://www.43dln.freeserve.co.uk/legxx/xxtimel.html , they actually were
based at Colchester during the invasion in 43 C.E.
The overall site at http://www.legioxx.org.uk seems pretty sensible
and conservative overall.
