John Leland quoted me and responded: << << but I have finished a script which was influenced by Mayan epigraphs. >> I must say I admire you for trying this. >> Perhaps I should qualify my statement. When I say "influenced", I don't mean that it *functions* like the Mayan script. I know very little about how it functions, most of my information coming in snipets from an orthography book here and there and from this website: http://jefferson.village.virginia.edu/med/index.html (Which is very cool, if you haven't been there!) What influenced me was the look of it. The script itself is much more like a syllabary, with some extra ideas which were probably borrowed over from Middle Egyptian, or somewhere else. Quoting John further: <<I lately, however, have been inventing a calender system for Rihana-ye influenced by Mayan, chiefly by combining a 240 day year cycle with the preexistent 365 day cycle. I hope to post it soon when and if I finish it.>> I look forward to it! I just discovered that after all those posts about calendars and JavaScript, my attempt to incorporate a 14 day week into a 12 month calendar didn't work. (In fact, I found out exactly thirteen minutes ago, when the sixth day, Saturday one, became the seventh day, Sunday one, rather than the fourteenth day, Sunday two.) -David ******************************************************************* "sunly eleSkarez ygralleryf ydZZixelje je ox2mejze."
