Anti-Imperialist Boxers fighting against the forces of the Imperialist
Briefs!  I wonder if the actual Chinese Boxers themselves were ever faced
with being compared to underwear...
Actually, speaking of underwear and East Asia, my Japanese teacher said
that in Japanese, _pantsu_ ( from "pants") means 'underwear' - and
_shotsu_ (from "shorts") means 'panties'!  I think they did that on
purpose, just to mess with English-speakers ;-) .

Hmm... i'm sure they mountain climb - otherwise, since they live mostly
in the tropics, they probably wouldn't have a word for "snow", and i know
they do :-) .  it's actually very close to the word for "flower" - |fwi|
"snow", |fwei| "flower".  And surfing?  definitely, now that you mention
it!  i hadn't thought of it, but you're right, it fits in perfectly.

Thanks, nope i generally don't consciously drop sigs... i just
periodically don't have time or effort to type up a nice one so i just do
one of the short "aru" or "hrmph" ones.  This one i really like though,
it's from the textbook i had for Musics of the World class, in the
chapter about African music.  It goes through a few different kinds of
music from different parts of Sub-Saharan Africa, and one of the
subsections is on the BaAka Forest People ("Pygmies") of the Central
African Republic.  It also mentions some other groups (tribes?) of Forest
People, and one of those mentions, referring to the work of an
anthropologist who studied the Forest People, goes:
"Turnbull reports that songs of the BaMbuti often mean "We are children
of the Forest" or "The Forest is good."  In troubled times they sing a
longer text: "There is darkness all around us; but if darkness *is*, and
the darkness is of the forest, then the darkness must be good" (Turnbull
1962:93)"
Unfortunately, since this subsection is about the BaAka, and not the
BaMbuti, none of those songs are on the recordings that come with the
textbook.  But i liked the words of the 'song in troubled times' so much
that i made my own tune for it so i can sing it myself :-) .
I'd really like to borrow it for Rokbeigalmki, but unfortunately
Rokbeigalmki culture inherited too many memories of Taoreisparofoineiwa,
the "Forest of Pursuing Shadows", from the Avarin Elves that joined them.
 There's no way they could sing "then the darkness must be good" when
they know for a fact that the Active Malevolent Shadows in the Forest
around Cuivienen were put there by Melkor in order to abduct the Elves
and turn them into Orcs.  Maybe if the forest in the song were replaced
by something more Rokbeigalm-friendly, like a thundercloud, then it might
work.
