Note: [k] and [g] are velar, [q] and [G"] are *uvular*.
The uvular nasal is represented by a small capital N in IPA, as opposed
to the velar nasal which is, well, "eng."
The ASCII representation varies wildly depending on which system you
like. "Eng," of course, tends to be [N]; here is the other in three
different systems:
Kirshenbaum = [n"]
Carrasquer = [N"]
SAMPA = [N\]
As far as the fricatives go, IPA has the following:
unvoiced velar fricative = "lower-case x," or [x] in ASCII
voiced velar fricative = "gamma," or [G] in ASCII
unvoiced uvular fricative = "chi," or [X] in ASCII
voiced uvular fricative = "inverted small capital R,"
or [R] in ASCII
If you can describe those Shona sounds (zv and dzv) I'll try to figure
out their IPA representation... (emphasize "try" :)
Hope that helps!
