Offhand, I come up with "la chèvre" and "la vitre" as immediate exceptions,
so JDM may have a point.

Again, off the top of my head, I think of "la fille", "la grenouille", "la
citrouille" and "la chenille", but I can't attest to whether it is *always*
so.
