There are two different issues, and what you see is *not*
what you get. In Netscrape Messenger, word wrapping on input
is dictated solely by the size of the composition window, which
is not under the user's control. This word wrapping is purely
visual and doesn't affect the text of the message. The parameter
to which you refer is then used to word wrap the text *again*
when it is sent, *ignoring* all existing word wrapping.
You can turn off both kinds of word wrapping by selecting
View/Wrap Long Lines On Send in the Compose window. Unfortunately,
you have to do this each time; it doesn't stick.
