Who knows? I'm using it an the lingusitic sense, but I can't be precise.
It might be Lechitic, or something more like Czech (or is it a
terminology mix up? Here in Russia 'Lechitic' refers to Polish and its
closely related dialects Kashubian and Slovinian). On theoretical
premises, it seems perfectly plausible that there was considerable
divergence between, say, the language of the Obodrits (just west of
present-day Szczecin) and the speech of the Slavs of Karinthia.
To be honest, I don't know if any research has been made into that area
(at least I haven't read anything, and I am yet to see an article on
this on a book on a bookshelf or in a bibliography). Well, I can someone
at the Dept. of Slavic Philology, if you wish.
