Hi, all, I have a question abour raising. As I understanding it, raising is taking a constituent from a complement clause and placing it in the matrix clause, like so ... Tom believes SHE is a secret agent. >>> Tom believes HER to be a secret agent. I read somewhere that many languages don't have much raising. I wanted to know how whether all Germanic languages have raising, and if so, what kind. Thanks in advance, Jim
