Saalangal eat a wide variety of foods. They love chicken and pork. Beef
really isnt heard of on the island, unless you call the occasional water
buffalo beef :). They eat many species of fish and shellfish (basically
the same species and genera you find in the Indian ocean around Sumatra).
Many tropical fruits are consumed daily. Rice is grown all over the island
(wet farming methods), and so is taro, and yams (sweet potato, whatever
;)). The cabbage of palms is consumed, but not eaten often (there are no
creeping type palms on the island, once you cut out the cabbage (the
apical bud) the tree dies).
