More exactly _ei_ is the third person singular of the negative
verb ("is not"). If my SO asks me _haluatko kahvia_ and I don't
want coffe I answer with the first person singular _en_ ("I'm not").
This said many Finns overuse _ej_ compared to _inte_ when speaking
Swedish.
