Yes, indeed - it brings back fond memories of when my kids were little & we
used watch Snagglepus & co.

At any rate, my transatlantic friends have confirmed that it's "Murgatroyd"
  (or "Murgatroyd") and not *Murcatroyd --- and I've spent the last quarter
of a
century or more wondering    ;)
