My wife's told me that my style is as distinct as a signature. Since I
received proper training in public speaking well before any worthwhile
training in writing, I tend to write as if I were orating. (I don't
count the drek foisted upon me in public school as "worthwhile training
in writing". My speech team coach, on the other hand, was quite the
hardass.)
The only critiques I've caught from my style are that it's "archaic".
Mind you, this was from a woman whose scientific writing I'm able to cut
wordage by half when I look over her papers.
