That happens to me occasionally. I have a suspicion that that happens
to everyone at one time or another. What often happens to me is that
I'll miss a pun, because I'll read the IMPLIED part.
Also, I have the problem occasionally with what you were saying about
being unable to understand a sentence, tho that often applies to speach
as well. Usually I get it after a brief moment, maybe half a second to
a full second it'll suddenly "click". But with reading, I'll sometimes
fail to see a word or two, even important words like "not", which can
make a HUGE difference in the meaning of a sentence! :-)
