Note the plural on "schemes" there; very important.
In the UC system, all classes that an undergraduate will take
will be from numbers 1 through 199.  200-299 are graduate
courses; 300-499 are used for I'm not sure what; 500-599 are
teaching credit; and 600+ is for Ph.D. research.  Having never
been affiliated with any other university, I too found the 300
designation surprising.  Having read Philip's explanation, however,
I...well, still find it baffling.  An entire course devoted to
pronunciation?  I find that a bit odd.  Was it just pronunciation,
or did you (=Amanda) work on things like conversation, too?
