Notes from all over:
"A shilling for a quickie in a cab, Sir?" purportedly addressed to a friend
of mine.
Speaking of persistent, I had an encounter of at least 5-10 min. duration
with a young lady in Rio, right in front of the fabulous Copacabana Hotel. I
babbled away in Spanish, expressing no interest, I'd just had a big dinner,
etc. etc. and finally disengaged with a very emphatic não and practically
ran. I suppose I could have said, Hey, I'm gay, but didn't want to get into
that.... Anyway, she probably would then have said, Well, I have a
brother.....
Some years back, the NY Times reported that Madrid's #1 high-class brothel,
at C. Barberini 5 (known as the "Quinta Avenida" in the days of Franco) had
become a luxury hotel. ;-))))))
