Why, oh why, did the makers of IPA have to make a distinction between
regular a and SCRIPT A? I mean, they already used capital letters with
i/I, so why not use lower-case and capital A instead of regular and
script A? I mean, that's so hard to distinguish in handwriting. Not to
mention ash and the o-e ligature. Egads, could there be a harder
distinction to make in handwriting?
