I'm never sure how to make a learning guide. I'd have to know the
language first before I could come up with a good organization of it.
I generally start out with an idea of how I want the language to work,
then I come up with a basic set of phonemes (which usually end up being
altered a bit later on), then I come up with morphology (such as case
endings, if there's cases, gender affixes, if there's genders, etc.),
again, this usually changes later on, and then I begin working on very
basic syntax, like, what's the word order, is there agreement, etc.
Then I just develop it gradually from there. I figure out how I'd deal
with certain basic structures, do some translations to develop it
further. And occasionally I'll just suddenly realize things like "Oh, I
think that I'll make the 1st and 2nd person clitic pronouns work on a
nominative-accusative basis!". I'll sometimes spend weeks trying to
decide how to deal with an ambiguity in the language, and occasionally
deciding to leave it in.
