It's a stereotype associated with, among other things, "hardcore" game
players who probably have a bloated self-image of themselves. It is meant
to be the word "elite" spelt using hacker-speak, but believe it or not,
there are people who type like this, not just as a joke but *seriously*,
because this stereotype is not generally a good one to be in; you get
