Well, you'd be amazed who quickly one can automate writing, say, "u" instead
of "you".
But what's more important is that most of the Abbrevians are
chat-frequenting teens with little typing experience.

PS "Real language" is a rather misplaced phrase here, don't you agree? From
context, it seems clear you meant "standard spelling".
