But does fortition ever create *new* phonemes?? All examples I know of
create stops which already exist in the language.
And I'd be somewhat surprized if stop _phonemes_ other than /?/ were created
by epenthetic stop insertion. Of course, /?/ is very good material to craft
other stops out of...
