Next week-Sir Thomas Browne? Or "Paradise Lost"??? "Finnegans Wake"?????
ouch.

 1. to bequeath-rumasir /rum+vasir/ 'cause to inherit'

My father bequeathed me an education

amami me yarumasir atengayani

properly for atrengaya (dropped -r- because of preceding -r), irreg. <
sarengaya 'lead-know' = educate; for some reason it wants to be definite
(-ni)

2. pittance....

He also left me a pittance (= barely a "dollar")

lavi-lavini me yarumasir napi taruna mes

moreover..... barely "dollar" one

3. usurp/steal/connive to get-hiçikiçip 'to plot, conspire' < hiçip 'whisper
'

My brother usurped my estates.

yahicikiçip mambremi vara nanjul çombalami

he-conspired bro.-my so-that steal lands-my

(since hiçikiçip implies several people, I suppose we need a word for "plot
by an individual")

4. stable-pumbik 'animal shed' ("little house")

I am forced to sleep in the barn.

ikratita re maçisu ri pumbik

they-compel that I-sleep in shed (yakratita 'he...' works too; kratita =
kra- pejor.+tita 'to order')

5. horse, no. lopa 'the main food animal, ~sheep, goat'

My brother values the lopas more than me

mambremi lavi yarumbola lopalañi alo mami

bro.-my more he-value lopa/pl/acc/ni from=than me/gen.

6. worth-mola

Technically, humans aren't worth anything, but a horse is worth a good deal.

Lusongi ambilani, kaçe ta yale molani, lopa mowa niya yamola

Acc'g thought-his, person/dat not there-is value-of it, lopa but/however
very is-valuable

(BTW, in the "shopping" sentences, I erred with cakamola 'tacky', it should
have been cakavolap)

7. to run away-uwik

Perhaps I'll run away with his prize lopa

Kuna mawuwik mananjul lopañi re krat cakaluçu

Maybe I-flee I-steal lopa/acc/his REL most best-breeder (an odd mental
picture :-)))

8. courage-çarekañu (compd. of çarek 'strong', hañu 'soul/mind')

I lack courage, though, or constance, so I will relinquish my plans.

Ombi mame tati çarekañu tati hañuvirap, aloni marundayoto tacambi

Since to-me neither courage nor resolve, therefore I-abandon-fut
intention-my

(rundayo irreg. caus. of unayo 'left behind')

9. to suffer - kena

I shall continue to suffer under my brother's culpable disinterest.

Malusokto makena ombi mambreyemi cakaçenjik lirimi

I-follow-fut I-suffer because bro./dat/my indifferent w.r.t.-me

10. depressed - cakanulañ (with nom. for temporary state; < nulañ 'sad')

I'm so depressed

Sambat cakanulañ mam

So-much depressed I (emph.)
