Well I guess I've been good a properly put in my
placve by you and Tristan. I guess there's some
ressesive grammar cop gene that rears its ugly head
now and then. I really love language and I really get
offended when I hear something that rubs me the wrong
way.
But in the final analysis my being offended is not
going to stop the march of change. I'm sure Chaucer
would have been offended by the way Shakespeare spoke
and I'm sure Shakespeare would be offended by the way
we speak, so just because some old fogey (like me)
doesn't like a given change doesn't mean it's "bad" or
"wrong".
I stand corrected, and I appologize for my stubborn
streak. I'll just have to grin and bear it until such
time as I get used to seing it. I'm not sure I'll
start using it alot myself. (Oh My God! That was a
struggle to type!) Nope, I just dont' see myself ever
using it. When I read it I picture a writer who is
definitely under 30 and probably under 25 years old,
just as when I see "U R" for "your are" I know the
writer is a teenager.
Oh well, as Henry Higgins observed, nobody can open
their mouth without making someone else despise them.
