Gems in Encyclopaedia Britannica

The online version of the EB that is... the entire section in language
is mucho yummy, take for instance articles on writing:

Okay, so there really ought to be more pictures but still I've
wast^H^H^H^Hused hours there today, *happy sigh*, tho' I usually stick
to the subscription-version at http://www.eb.com:180/, which I find less
cluttered.

Ah, the joys of the net, *pure bliss*... might as well enjoy it before
Big Brother clamps down and starts stomping on our faces for the next
thousand years or so...
