I am subscribed through both, too. I would have expected that someone new who
subscribes through Brown becomes automatically a member of Yahoo as well. But,
as a little experiment I did five minutes ago shows, this turns out not to be
the case.
In other words: the total number of subscribers is indeed 924 minus the number
of people who are subscribed to both.
Of course, only the 419 who are subscribed through Brown can post. And only
some 20% of these people actually do so. Sometimes I wonder about the rest. My
lurking period lasted only a few days, since I couldn't stand the itch in my
fingers any longer.
Mm. Wouldn't our listowner consider the possibility of modifying the
explanatory text on Yahoo in such way, that it becomes clear to a new
subscriber that Yahoo is there for archiving purposes only, and that anyone who
wishes to participate in the conversation has to subscribe through Brown first?
I took me a while before I found out, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
