Indeed!
I know the word well (collq. = woman/girl, < Arabic),
but I wasn't sure if it was used beyond BE. Anyway, I
try to avoid circular references as they are
infuriating! :)
I wonder why we have 'pint' rather than the *pinte the
modern English orthography would lead you to expect,
based on pronunciation?
Of course, I could get philosophical and muse on why
for goodness' sake we have pint at all, given we
supposedly metricated almost 40 years ago....
