C'ali is a tone-language, yes. I wrote up a summary of the behavior
of tone for it some time back on this list:

Since my exposure to tonal languages in any detail is almost exclusively
through Bantu languages, C'ali's tonal system has a (probably too eery)
similarity to those kinds of systems. If you're interested in learning
more about tone, I would suggest buying/borrowing 'Tone' in the Cambridge
series of textbooks in Linguistics, the one by Moira Yip.
