It's been a few years since I lived there, but it seemed modern enough
from my point of view. Of course, I've never been to Germany, so
can't make a comparison. They've got computers (don't know how
widespread), highways, speedy trains and Metros (Madrid's system, I
think, is very nice, especially compared to Washington's) which are
rather inexpensive to use. I'm sure there are less developped areas,
as there are in any country. It's no cleaner than any other
industrial or partly industrial country. If you mean
rubbish-in-the-street-wise; Madrid was rather clean. And green.
