Word can do that too. Either with a macroy thing (I forget the name...
extra markup you can see/insert with ctrl+F9. It's how things like page
numbers are inserted).  It works in both hard and softcopies. I forget
how you actually do it, but you can find something in the help. Or maybe
one of the people who actually use Word around here can help you better.
