You left off the ending. Cp Gen. 3:12:

The spelling "hiccup" is the most common both in the U.S. and the
Commonwealth, but "hiccough" is certainly not incorrect.
On Alta Vista, "hiccup" pages outrun "hiccough" pages about 10 to 1.
